Dr. Merab Topuria, the esteemed Dean of the School of Science and Technology, has been at the forefront of shaping the global strategic development of the OHI. With a Ph.D. from the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in 1981, he embarked on a distinguished scientific career in the Department of Biophysics. Dr. Topuria's significant contributions encompass advancements in teaching bioenergetics, biophysics, and radiobiology, along with his pivotal role in developing standardized tests in biology and chemistry for university admission in Georgia. His administrative and managerial roles have extended to overseeing the Laboratory of Chemical Carcinogenesis, the Laboratory of Bio-Membranes, Physical Chemistry, and Molecular Biology in diverse academic settings. Notably, as one of the senior managers, he has contributed significantly to organizing and supervising the unified state examinations in Georgia. 

 

 

 


 

     
     

Mamuka Kotetishvili, PhD

Dr. Mamuka Kotetishvili directs OHI's research and educational activities related to One Health. He is an expert in molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases with international recognition. Dr. Kotetishvili has extensively published on antimicrobial resistance, genetic diversity, and evolutionary divergence of infectious agents. His work has provided valuable insights into the inter and intra-species relationships, as well as the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance of foodborne, zoonotic and some other infectious agents. During his distinguished career, Dr. Kotetishvili has served on the editorial board of Journal of Clinical Microbiology, and as an ad hoc reviewer, has contributed to manuscript revision processes for more than 17 internationally renowned scientific journals in the US and EU. He has also served as a faculty and/or a scientific committee member for leading Western academic and/or other institutions, such as e.g., the University of Maryland, and the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) in the USA. He has been as well the Associated Governing Board, and Science Committee Member of the European One Health Association (EOHA), Maisons-Alfort, France.
