The One Health Institute’s (OHI) application for membership was officially endorsed by the Governing Board of the European One Health Association (EOHA). Effective January 1, 2025, the OHI will join EOHA as an acceded member. The EOHA plays a pivotal role in advancing One Health by enhancing and disseminating scientific knowledge on zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). It fosters collaboration among organizations in the medical/public health, food/animal health, and environmental health sectors across Europe. EOHA unites its members to promote a comprehensive One Health approach aimed at tackling zoonoses and AMR while supporting a healthy and sustainable food supply chain within Europe and beyond. The association traces its origins to 2009, when it was founded as a self-sustaining legacy of the Med-Vet-Net Network of Excellence under Europe’s 6th Framework Programme.

"It is a tremendous honor for the OHI to become an acceded member of EOHA and to contribute to its mission of promoting a One Health approach for combating zoonoses and AMR, as well as ensuring a healthy and sustainable food supply chain across Europe and beyond. It must be also indicated that collaborating closely with renowned governmental and academic institutions, alongside distinguished experts and scholars from the European Union, will provide an exceptional opportunity for OHI's young research teams to expand their expertise and implement One Health approaches across the domains of public health, food safety, environmental health, and animal health in Georgia. This membership will also significantly strengthen One Health research initiatives aimed at effectively combating zoonotic diseases and AMR at the human, animal, and environmental interface. We are stronger when united,” said Dr. Mamuka Kotetishvili, Director of the OHI.
