The European One Health Association Annual Scientific Meeting (EOHA-ASM 2026) (https://eoha-asm2026.eu/), held on 18–20 May 2026 in Madrid, Spain, brought together scientists, public-health professionals, veterinarians, environmental experts, policymakers, and representatives of leading European and international organizations under the theme “Connecting Science, Health, and Society.”

Hosted by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the congress focused on the interconnected health of humans, animals, and ecosystems, addressing major One Health priorities, including antimicrobial resistance, pathogen evolution and transmission, environmental health, emerging infectious diseases, genomic surveillance, and the translation of scientific evidence into policy and practice.

Researchers Mamuka Kotetishvili, Tinatin Elbakidze, and Saba Kobakhidze contributed to the scientific programme through presentations examining the evolution and transmission of antimicrobial-resistance genes, including tetM, tetW, and msrA, as well as the comparative genomic and codon-adaptation characteristics of temperate and virulent bacteriophages of Listeria monocytogenes. Their contributions included an oral and an ePoster presentations. Mamuka Kotetishvili also co-chaired the session “Joining Environmental Sciences and Ecology with Human/Animal Health.”

Through keynote lectures, scientific presentations, poster sessions, and expert discussions, EOHA-ASM 2026 provided an important European platform for exchanging research findings, strengthening cross-sector collaboration, and advancing practical approaches to health challenges at the human–animal–environment interface.
