The QTechGeorgia-2026 conference, held at the University of Georgia and organized by the Center for Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence, brought together researchers, professors, and students to discuss developments in quantum technologies. As one of the first conferences in Georgia dedicated specifically to quantum science and its applications, the event provided a platform for research exchange and interdisciplinary discussion.

Among the presentations, Davit Janelidze of the University of Georgia’s One Health Institute delivered a talk titled “Quantum Computation in Biology: From Molecules to Medicine.” The presentation examined potential applications of quantum computing and quantum sensing in areas such as molecular modeling, drug discovery, bioinformatics, omics research, and biomedical science. Janelidze noted that quantum technologies are not expected to replace classical computing, artificial intelligence, or experimental biology. Rather, they may complement existing approaches in selected areas where molecular simulations, electronic structure calculations, or highly sensitive measurements present significant challenges. The talk also discussed quantum sensing as a developing technology with potential applications in biological and medical research.

The presentation emphasized that progress in this field will likely depend on integrating experimental methods, classical computing, artificial intelligence, and emerging quantum technologies. By exploring connections between quantum science and biomedical research, the talk highlighted opportunities for future interdisciplinary collaboration while acknowledging that many practical applications remain under active development.
